Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir
Regarded as a choir of national excellence in China and the cultural name card of Shenzhen, Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir has actively appeared on domestic and international stages in recent years. The choir has received numerous honours and awards home and abroad, including the championship of the Teenager Group at the World Choir Games 2019, grand champion at the 5th International Johannes-Brahms Choir Festival & Competition in Germany, first prize for Children’s Choir Competition and the “Biggest Fans” Award in the 36th Tolosa International Choral Festival in Spain, and first place of the Choir Competition in the 5th National Elementary and Middle School Arts Fair.
Founded in 1997, Lily Girls Choir is an excellent troupe characterized by harmony, friendship, cooperation and sincerity. Under the leadership of Xizhen Wang, an expert in children’s chorus, Lily Girls Choir has developed into an outstanding students’ choir that plays a leading and exemplary role in China. In 2010, Manxue Hu took over as the choir’s conductor.
The choir has been praised as “clear, bright, penetrating, warm, colourful”, and “touches the hearts of the audience”. They dedicate themselves to exploring and promoting the culture of Chinese multiethnic music and build up their repertoire based on the traditional music classics as well as the new prominent works. They perform both traditional and internationally well-known pieces, as well as the premieres of specially commissioned works from internationally recognized composers.
Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir performs more than 20 concerts each year and has been invited to appear on stages of famous domestic and foreign choral festivals, as well as other major occasions. So far, they have toured more than 20 countries and regions and successfully collaborated with many well-known conductors and orchestras, such as Yoel Levi, Guoyong Zhang, Feng Yu, Yongyan Hu, Xieyang Chen, Zuohuang Chen, Lihua Tan, Xincao Li, Daye Lin, Kuokman Lio, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, NCPA Orchestra and so forth.

Artistic Director/Conductor: Hu Manxue
Teaching for 30 years, Hu Manxue has dedicated herself to the promotion of teenagers’ music. Manxue had engaged in piano teaching at Jiangxi Normal University in 1990-1997 and had successfully held piano recitals. In 1997, she became a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and became one of the founders of Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir, taking charge of piano accompaniment and stage choreographing. In 2005, she studied choral conducting at the Central Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of such well-known conductors as Yang Hongnian and Chen Lin.
She took over as the conductor of Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir in 2010 and led the choir to visit North Korea and Serbia for art communication together with government delegations. In 2016, she led the choir to perform at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse for the cultural performance of the China-EU Education Ministers Conference. In 2011, she led Lily Girls Choir to successfully tour the National Center for the Performing Arts, He Lüting Concert Hall, and Shenzhen Concert Hall. In 2011 and 2016, Hu led the choir to perform at Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with great success. She has also been invited to hold a number of concerts and workshops at influential choral festivals home and abroad. In July 2012, she was one of the representatives of China to give a speech at the World Choral Education Conference organized by the International Federation of Choral Music. She had served on the jury of the 4th International Choir Assemblies EURASIA CANTAT in Russia.
Hu won many excellent conductor prizes in competitions. Under the leadership of Hu, Lily Girls Choir won the championship of the Teenage Group and second prize for A Cappella Folksong Group in the World Choir Games 2019. In 2014, she led the choir to participate in the 8th World Choral Games in Latvia and gained the gold awards of the Music Contemporary Category and the Female Chamber Choir Category. In 2016, she led Lily Girls Choir to win first place of Choir Competition at the 5th National Elementary and Middle School Arts Fair.
Piano: Peng Chuan
Peng Chuan graduated from the Piano Department of Jiangxi Normal University. In 2000-2002, she pursued further education at the Central Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professor Zhao Bixuan and Professor Du Taihang. Currently, she serves as a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and is in charge of the piano accompaniment of Lily Girls Choir. She won the "Excellent Instructor Award" respectively in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th National Elementary and Middle School Arts Fair. She had led her class to win first prize of the Middle School Category in the Shenzhen Elementary and Middle School Arts Fair and Peng won the “Excellent Conductor Award”.
In 2017, she co-founded the Shenzhen Senior High School Zi Cheng Boys’ Choir with other music teachers from the school and she mainly takes charge of rehearsals.
Piano: Jiang Jingjia
Jiang Jingjia who has learned piano since her childhood was enrolled in the Music Performance Major (Piano) of the Arts Department of Shenzhen University Normal College, studying under the guidance of Associate Professor Zhang Youdan. She has won more than 20 awards in a number of competitions, including the Gold Award of the Youth Group in the 3rd Cadenza Cup National Teenagers Chinese Piano Works Playing Competition. Currently, she serves as a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and is in charge of the piano accompaniment of Lily Girls Choir. She has visited more than 10 countries and regions with the choir and won a number of domestic and foreign choral awards. Jiang was the recipient of the “Excellent Instructor Award” in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th National Elementary and Middle School Arts Fair.
In 2017, she co-founded the Shenzhen Senior High School Zi Cheng Boys’ Choir with other music teachers from the school and she mainly takes charge of piano accompaniment.
Shenzhen Senior High School Zi Cheng Boys’ Choir
Established in October 2017, Shenzhen Senior High School Zi Cheng Boys’ Choir’s mission is to convey justice, courage, positivity and energy via singing while concentrating on learning. The choir won the first prize in Shenzhen’s Primary and Secondary School Choir Competition with a high score of 94.4. The result of the choir witnesses the achievement that Shenzhen Senior High School has always integrated aesthetic education in teaching and educating. Zhao Ting currently serves as the leader of the choir, with Peng Chuan serving as the conductor, Zhu Jiaohong and Jiang Jingjia serving as the artistic directors.
