The orchestra has premiered works by Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakov, Shostakovich, and Khachaturian. It has been nurtured by generations of renowned conductors such as Vladimir Dranishnikov, Arvids Jansons, Yevgeny Mravinsky, Konstantin Simeonov, and Yuri Temirkanov.
