Flute: Yuan Yu
 
As one of the most sought out flutists of his generation, Yuan Yu is active as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member. He is currently Principal Flute of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and teaches at its Kurt Sanderling Orchestra Academy.
 
He is a main prize winner in numerous prestigious international competitions, such as Kobe, Geneva, Prague Spring, Krakow, Cluj, etc.
 
In 2018, the International Classical Music Award (ICMA) presented him with the “Discovery Award”.
 
His interpretation of his own arrangement of Bach’s Ciaconna during the Geneva Competition has been widely praised, and was diffused by France Musique national wide.
 
He graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of Sophie Cherrier with the highest distinction, at the same time he also received a Bachelor’s degree of Baroque flute in the class of Jan de Winne, and a Master's Degree in piccolo in the class of Nathalie Rozat. He is currently in the course of “Excellence in Performance” in the class of Andrea Lieberknecht in the Hochschule für Muisk und Theater München. 
 
During his studies in France, he was generously supported and received scholarships from the Banque Populaire de France Foundation, the Safran Foundation, the Yamaha Music (Europe) Foundation, the Meyer Foundation, the Tarrazi Foundation and the Société Générale Bank Foundation.
 
He regularly gives solo recitals and chamber music concerts in China, Taiwan, Hongkong, Switzerland, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Poland and Slovenia, and has performed as a soloist with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Polish National Symphony Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra of Transylvania etc. He has been a guest musician with the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre de Paris, and a member of the Paris Chamber Music Centre, as well as an artist of the Marlboro Music Festival.
 
 

Guitar: Junhong Kuang
 
As one of the most influential young musicians today, guitarist Junhong Kuang was selected as one of the “30 Brilliant Classical Musicians Under 30” by conductor Julian Lloyd Webber. He has worked with many conductors including Darrell Ang, Michael Francis, Tonu Kaljuste, Kevin Griffiths, Jed Gaylin, Nell Flanders, Xieyang Chen, Lin Chen, Jiongjie Yin, Yongyan Hu, Qiyuan Zhu, Renchang Fu, and shared the stage with musicians: Pepe Romero, Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Siqing Lv, Diyang Mei, and Yun Zeng. He also works closely with composers Gerald Garcia and Ziyang Wen. In 2017, Kuang was awarded the top prize in the classical guitar category of the prestigious ARD Music Competition, along with the Audience Prize and the Ifp-Musikpreis, making him the youngest prizewinner in ARD’s history.
 
Kuang has performed with some of the top orchestras around the world, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Munich Radio Orchestra, Basel Collegium, Peabody Symphony Orchestras, Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Chengdu Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra. Kuang’s recent performances including Tedesco’s D major guitar concerto with Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, Rodrigo’s Fantasia Gentilhombre with Xiamen Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Chengdu Symphony Orchestra, Concierto de Aranjuez with Bay Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and Xi’an Symphony Orchestra, Vivaldi’s D major guitar concerto with Harbin Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra and Sichuan Symphony Orchestra and Gerald Garcia’s China Sings with Zhejiang Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. Kuang is also the first Chinese guitarist to release guitar solo and concerto recordings in Naxos.
 
Kuang began his study at the age of nine with Professor Bao Xu in Chengdu, China. He was accepted into the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University at the age of 15, and studied with the legendary maestro Manuel Barrueco. He is an associate professor of classical guitar at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and Pre-College faculty at The Tianjin Juilliard School.
