SEMISCON

SEMISCON vocal band, established in 2002, is the first professional A-Cappella ensemble in Taiwan. In additional to four-part choir and vocal percussion, our performance incorporates the elements of dance, design, comedy, and most importantly, a lot of personal style and flair! Our repertoire spans various musical genres: classical, jazz, broadway, folk, pop from the east and the west. We constantly experiment with new possibilities on vocal and visual presentation in order to bring our audience a one-of-a-kind musical experience.

In the short time the group was formed, Semiscon won the championship in the 2003 Taiwan Chorus Contest. In July 2004, we represented Taiwan at ISCF (International Styrian Choir Festival) in Graz, Austria, to compete for the coveted Ward Swingle Award, and came in the first place in the POP genre. In 2006, Semiscon was nominated for “Best Performance in a Vocal duo or Group” at the 15th Chinese Golden Melody Awards, better known as the Chinese Grammy Awards.

In the mean time, we went on a world tour to share our music with Chinese communities worldwide. Up to now, we have performed hundreds of shows in more than 50 cities around Asia, Europe, North America, and South Africa.

For the future, we will continue to bring good music and our vision to the audience and the industry, with the ultimate goal of producing the very first original Chinese A-Cappella album. We will also embark on experimental collaboration with independent theater companies and dance troupes to innovate and reinvent our art. One thing is for sure, Semiscon will never cease our endeavor in exploring and cultivating in the realm of A Cappella.

Soprano / Lily

Lily, soprano of the Semiscon Vocal Band. She was graduated from the Institute of Art of Taipei Art Theater, majoring in performance.

Alto / Eini 

Eini, the alto of the Semiscon Vocal Band. She was graduted from Science and Technology Management Institute of Tsinghua University.

Alto / Janis

Janis, the alto of the Semiscon Vocal Band She is currently a free performance art worker as well as the principal of Sixi Fang Performing Arts Studio.

Soprano / Chi

Chi, the soprano of the Semiscon Vocal Band. She was graduated from the Goldsmiths College of the University of London.

Alto / Christy

Christy, the exclusive composer and alto of the Semiscon Vocal Band. She was graduated from Oakland University of New Zealand.

Soprano / Julie 
Julie, the soprano of the Semiscon Vocal Band. She was graduated from Taipei Medical University and currently serves as senior technical staff.

Acting Director / Tenor / E’Ray 
E’Ray, both the acting director and tenor of the Semiscon Vocal Band. He is currently a professional actor in theaters.

Tenor / Tom 
Tom, the tenor of Semiscon Vocal Band. He is currently a professional video post-producer. And he was graduated from the Fu Ren University.

Music Director / Bariton / Ray

Ray, music director of Semiscon Vocal Band. He was graduated from Music Department of University of Cultureand majored in clarinet.

Band Leader / Vocal Percussion / Wuming 
Wuming, the band leader and the vocal percussion of Semiscon Vocal Band. He is currently the executive chairman of Vocal Asia, A Art and Shanghai Acappella Center as well as the producer of W Theatre Productions.

Bass / Mike

Mike, the bass of Semiscon Vocal Band. He was graduated from Cheng Kung University. He once won the champion of 2002 Taiwan Ensemble Contest.
