 Finnish A-Cappella Ensemble  “Club for Five”

Club for Five (CFF) is a contemporary a cappella ensemble from Finland. They are known for their unique singing style. Club for Five was founded in Helsinki in 2001. The members of the band are musicians with diverse and extensive musical backgrounds: Maija Sariola (soprano), Eeppi Ursin (alto), Jouni Kannisto (tenor), Juha Viitala (baritone) and Tuukka Haapaniemi (bass). Their repertoire (both Finnish and English) is mainly self-arranged and/or self-composed pop music with influences from a variety of musical genres.

In October, 2004, Club for Five released the first album “Ensi-ilta” by Universal Music which has received wide appreciation and was certified gold in Finland in several months. Though this album was recorded by Finnish, there is no obstacle for for the audience to enjoy the wonderful rhythm and gorgeous modern vocal chords. This album was mainly included by imaginative original songs and re-arranged classical and pop songs.

In 2005, Club for Five recorded the second album “Uni”. The album released in May has become a milestone that witnessed their success. In this album, Club for Five not only shows their ability of distinguished composition and interpretation, but also their talent of music creation.

In 2007, Club for Five released the Christmas album “Rekirektki” which won them the Best Christmas Album of the Year, and The Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards in 2008. In 2009, the ensemble released the album “You’re the Voice”, among them the re-arranged song “Brothers in Arms” by Aire Straits was widely loved. Following that, the ensemble released “In Concert - You’re the Voice” in 2010 which contained the tour events. Later in 2011, they released “Ihmiset”, among which they played rock style.

Club for five mainly performs in Finland, Europe and Asia, they have cooperated with The Manhattan Transfer and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 2007 their first tour to China, they imitated different instruments sounds and performed re-arranged Chinese folk songs. They were also invited to perform at the beauty contest “Chinese Ladies” held by Phoenix TV of Hong Kong which brought a big surprise to the audience. In 2012, they were invited as a guest by the TV entertainment program “Era Show”. In 2017, CFF released a tribute album for the 15^th anniversary. Since the beginning of 2000, CFF have toured nationally and released 10 albums, including the widely loved “You’re the Voice”, among which contains their representative song “Brothers in Arms”.

In May 2018, Club for Five will tour in China again. This time, they will choose their best love songs to present a very interesting concert to the audience. You will enjoy the international music styles of jazz and pop, and walk into the thrilling world of James Bond along with Katy Perry’s accompaniment. And you will also enjoy a perfect harmony of many languages, including mandarin, cantonese, English and the mother tongue of CFF.
